I would like to take a moment to thank the entire LGBTQ+ community for helping to make our first (and now annual event) Shopping Is A Drag event happen. We had amazing volunteers, superb vendors, heroic children and families who attended, and board members who worked very hard to pull it together in spite of being met with transphobia and homophobia that could have been a barrier. I have so much gratitude for the families who had the opportunity to shop without fear, to hear from the vendors that they felt at ease, and for our volunteer security team who were well equipped and extremely professional. I am so proud of our entire LGBTQ+ community. We are resilient and the spirit of commUnity was positive and full of love for one another.
I also would like to especially thank Papa Johns for donating pizzas for this event. They did an amazing job and helped put bigger smiles on the faces of our volunteers, vendors, board members, and the children and parents who attended. You fed us all and we appreciate your kindness and generosity.
The above picture perfectly captures the relaxed, warm, positive environment that took place because of all who contributed to making this happen. Thank you everyone.
Please support Papa John's, local vendors, and most importantly - each other!
Shannon, President
